My Why

Updated: Jan 27

Several years ago, I was playing soccer in the state playoffs for North Carolina. I went up for a header and got hit from two different angles. When I fell, I fell from about five to six feet right onto my left hip bone. I was immediately taken to the hospital where I stayed overnight for tests and multiple X-rays. I was diagnosed with a twisted pelvis and they recommended that I have surgery to correct it. My family did not have the means to pay for the surgery at that point so my dad took me to a chiropractor that his friend recommended.

When I arrived at the office, I was not able to walk on my own. I was set up with visits three times a week and went for about twelve weeks on that schedule. The doctors at the hospital said that I may have trouble walking for the rest of my life even with surgery. After chiropractic care for the initial twelve weeks, I saw huge improvements. I was able to walk slightly without any assistance and used my crutches only when I needed them. I went from having a future with no sports and one requiring surgery, to being able to get back to playing sports within five months.

This was monumental to me that I was able to get back to the active life I wanted to lead. It was life changing for me knowing I was close to going down a road that was very different. In turn, I knew I wanted to help make a difference in people’s lives the way that my life was changed. While my ultimate goal is not to change someone’s life, it is to help them get to do the things they want to be able to do. To help them lead a better and more fulfilled life.
